Performing Poetry This class, which is the initial course at CTI, teaches how to analyze, interpret and perform poetic texts.  It covers scansion, meter, word order, vocabulary, and poetic forms, as they relate to performance.   Part of each class is spent on vocal technique and warm-ups, with the rest on instruction and performance.  Different texts are used each time the course is offered, so it may be repeated without duplicating material.
Singing Using Nicola Vaccai’s Practical Italian Vocal Method as a basis, this course instils good singing technique, including projection, vocal health, and range extension.
Ancient Drama An introduction to Greek and Roman texts in translation, including monologues and dialogues, speech chorus technique, textual analysis and interpretation, and performing these ancient works in the 21st century.  Different texts are used each time the course is offered, so it may be repeated without duplicating material.
Drama in Blank Verse A course that covers the works of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Jonson, and lesser writers, teaching how to analyze and interpret the text, and how to perform monologues, dialogues, and scenes.  Different texts are used each time the course is offered, so it may be repeated without duplicating material.
